Sports Injuries

EXPERT CARE, FOR LOCALS LIKE YOU

Sports injuries require precise diagnosis and expert management, our physiotherapists bring extensive experience treating everything from everyday training injuries to elite-level sporting conditions.

Sports injuries can present as acute conditions such as muscle strains, ligament tears, fractures, and bruising, or develop over time through overuse, leading to inflammation, tendonitis, and muscle spasm.

Our experienced physiotherapists use thorough clinical assessment to identify the cause of injury and develop an evidence-based management plan. Supported by our state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym and specialised strength and performance testing equipment, we deliver data-driven rehabilitation aligned with current return-to-sport evidence and collaborate with sports physicians and medical specialists when required.

At Redfern Physio, rehabilitation follows a structured, sport-specific program to restore mobility, strength, and movement control, supporting a safe and confident return to training and competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do you accept private health insurance, sports insurance, or Medicare?

Yes - we accept most private health insurance providers. Sports insurance claims are also accepted; however, these usually need to be arranged through your sporting club or team.

In many cases for sports insurance, the individual pays upfront and is reimbursed directly by their insurer after completing a course of treatment. The exact process varies depending on the sport and insurer.

Medicare rebates may be available if you have a valid GP Chronic Care Management Plan (GPCCMP).

  • Can my Physiotherapist coordinate imaging or specialist referrals if required?

Yes - if imaging or specialist review is clinically required, your physiotherapist can coordinate referrals and communicate with your GP, sports physician, or orthopaedic specialist.

This helps ensure your diagnosis and management plan are accurate, timely, and aligned with best practice.

  • Will you communicate with my coach and other allied health professionals during my rehabilitation?

Yes - with your consent, we regularly communicate with coaches, doctors, and other allied health professionals.

This ensures your rehabilitation, training loads, and return-to-sport planning are coordinated and appropriate for your specific sport and level of activity.
