Bernie Chau


Bernie graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Australian Catholic University. In continuing his professional development, he has completed his APA Sports Physiotherapy Level 2, ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach and Dry Needling courses. Bernie works with the young and old and tailors individualised treatment plans to make you feel empowered, with a clear process for the progression of your injury to get you pain free.


Working under Eddie Farah with the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL squad, he has developed an extensive knowledge in sports related injuries. He is currently working as the head physio for the Rabbitohs Jersey Flegg Squad and assists with NSW Cup reserve grade teams. He has experience working across multiple sports, having previously worked as a physio for the NSWRL Country Men's and youth team, Warringah Rats, NSW Waratahs Generation Blue and Women’s pathway program as well as in basketball, football and track and field.


In addition to Bernie’s extensive experience in treating sporting injuries he previously worked within the Mater Orthopaedics clinic, learning invaluable experience in post-operation care. Bernie has a strong passion in musculoskeletal physiotherapy & biomechanics and understands first-hand how debilitating an injury can be to both your physical and mental health. His clinical interests include orthopaedics, ACL, groin and hip injuries. He's currently undertaking further training in Diane Lee’s Integrated Systems Model -Thoracic Ring and Sacroiliac joint dysfunctions.


Fun Fact: Bernie represented Australia in the World Youth Chess Olympiad, winning both Australian Under 16 and the NSW Under 18 chess championships. He also enjoys playing and coaching playing representative Oztag at state and national levels.
